Solid Points for De La Torre at Chaotic Montreal

Elias De La Torre scored solid points at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Montreal over the weekend despite both races being affected by lengthy safety car periods.

Starting race 1 from P12 on the grid the race started under very cloudy sky’s and after a fantastic start at the end of lap 1 Elias had moved up to P9 however light rain had started to fall. Now in an intense battle Elias traded positions over the next two laps as the rain became much heavier. As the rain intensified the red flag was shown as all cars were on slick tires. After an excessive delay to change tires the safety car led the field back onto the track with only 6 minutes remaining but unfortunately time ran out and the race did not resume leaving Elias in P11.

Starting race 2, again from P12 heavy rain was falling but another fantastic start saw Elias jump into P10. With limited visibility from the huge amount of spray the safety car was deployed on lap 2 for debris on the track. The race resumed on lap 4 and by lap 6 Elias had moved into P9 but a huge crash for the #77 at the final turn meant the safety car was deployed. Due to the amount of damage to the Tecpro barrier the race was ended prematurely with the race only running 4 green flag laps.

The next round of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America is at Watkins Glen on 20-22 June
