Elias De La Torre IV achieved a points finish in both of the races at the opening rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Championship at Sebring at the weekend.
The first round of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Championship took place at Sebring over the weekend supporting the 72nd annual Mobil 1 Twelve hours of Sebring with Elias De La Torre in the #4 JDX Porsche 992 GT3 Cup car.
After struggling with car set up all through practice Elias managed to qualify the car in P14 for race 1 on Thursday.
A good start saw him jump to P13 on lap one and another place was gained by lap 2 but the safety car was deployed towards the end of the lap neutralising the race and halting his charge. The race resumed on lap 5 with Elias now attacking the #5 car, the battle continued for 8 laps with Elias managing to pass on lap 13. With only 4 laps remaining Elias took the flag in P11.
Race two took place on Friday evening, with the 40-car field starting as the sun was setting and would race into the darkness.
As the green flag waved Elias held position but as they ended the first lap the Safety Car was deployed after a multi car incident towards the back of the field. After 4 laps behind the safety car the race restarted, again Elias held position but would be in a race long battle for 5 cars with Elias having to settle for P12 at the flag however Elias was promoted to P11 after it was deemed that some cars had jumped the restart.

“Overall I’m satisfied with the result considering where I qualified, the car came on strong towards the end of both races and our pace was really good. I’m really looking forward to the next round at Miami as it’s a circuit I was strong at last year”.
The next round of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Championship takes place at Miami supporting Formula 1 on May 3-5.
